Statement from Carly’s Warriors

Following Today’s Mississippi Supreme Court Decision

Today has been an incredibly difficult day for everyone who has stood beside Carly and her family throughout this journey.

The Mississippi Supreme Court has affirmed Carly's convictions and sentences. We are deeply disappointed by the decision, and we understand that many people who have supported Carly will be feeling devastated and confused tonight.

However, the decision contains important points that deserve careful consideration.

The Court recognised that Carly's sentence is “life imprisonment,” not “life imprisonment without the possibility of parole,” and referred to Carly as “potentially eligible for parole.” 

The Court also recognised important distinctions within Mississippi's juvenile sentencing law and acknowledged that certain claims, including claims of ineffective assistance of counsel that depend upon evidence outside the existing appellate record, may be better addressed through post-conviction proceedings. 

For now, we need time to understand today's decision fully and to allow Carly's legal team to consider what it means and what options may remain.

We don't want to make promises or speculate about what happens next.

What we do know is that today's decision does not erase the questions that have been raised throughout Carly's case, nor does it diminish our belief that her story deserves to be fully heard.

Carly was a child when this tragedy occurred.

She has a lifetime ahead of her.

Tonight, we are hurting.

But we are still here.

Carly's Warriors will continue to stand beside Carly and her family.

We ask everyone who has supported Carly to stay with us, give the family some time, and continue to believe in hope, justice and the possibility of a different future.

The fight is not defined by one difficult day. ❤️

Statement from Justice for Carly Gregg following the Oral Arguments

Today, we reflect on the oral arguments with cautious hope, determination, and gratitude to everyone who continues to stand beside Carly and her family.

The hearing represented an important step in the ongoing fight for fairness, transparency, and justice. While no decision has yet been made, we believe the arguments presented raised serious questions that deserve full and careful consideration.

Our hope remains the same as it has from the beginning — that Carly is granted a fair opportunity for a new trial where all relevant evidence, context, and concerns can be properly examined. Justice requires not only accountability, but confidence that every legal process has been conducted fairly and thoroughly.

We are deeply thankful to the supporters, advocates, legal team, and community members who continue to speak up, pray, share information responsibly, and stand united during this difficult journey. Your compassion and dedication mean more than words can express.

As we wait for the court’s decision, we ask supporters to remain respectful, thoughtful, and hopeful. The road ahead may still be long, but today reminded us that voices raised in pursuit of justice do matter.

We will continue advocating for truth, fairness, and due process every step of the way.

Today, our hearts remain with everyone affected by this tragedy. Carly is deeply loved by her family, and we continue to pray for healing, wisdom, and compassion for all involved. We respect the judicial process and the solemn responsibility of the Court, and therefore believe it would not be appropriate to comment on today’s appeal oral arguments or the forthcoming legal process while awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision.
